I remember when I was a little kid playing with mud, I would pretend I had a store and I would sell vegetables using flowers and whatever was surrounding me then. I wasn’t afraid of bugs or anything!
But as I got older, I forgot how it was being in nature, I got used to living in a metro area and being in nature was second place. I am talking about forests or mountains, I always loved the beach and went almost every weekend.
Then, I started embracing spirituality, I became a chef, and with all the things going on with my life, I needed to ground myself somehow. That’s when I learned Grounding, also called Earthing. It would bring me back to center and at the same time I would imagine the energy no longer serving me, leaving my body. I saw it as a way of recycling.
Then when I started learning about high vibrational routines and techniques, I got deeper into grounding, I researched more and found out that it wasn’t only good for bringing me back to center, but also it has so many health benefits, which makes sense, because when you are in a high vibrational state, your health automatically improves.
At first I was like, ants, crickets, mosquitos, etc. But I got to co-exist again with these amazing living beings and we are getting along good! Now, nature is where I want to be, either hiking, taking a walk, running in the park or looking at the beauty of a lake or a flower. Nature is where I feel whole, like myself.
You can ground yourself by standing barefoot on grass, sand or mud.
I mostly do grounding on my grass, it’s better doing it early in the morning when the grass is wet from morning dew. I also love the beach, so I ground in the sand. Actually being in the ocean is an excellent way to ground yourself too.
Some of the health benefits from Earthing or Grounding are:
Grounding neutralizes free radicals
Free radicals are generated through inflammation, infection, cell damage, trauma, stress, and our toxic environments. They force our immune system to respond to these threats. An active immune system produces more free radicals and soon our body is attempting to put out fires, but it has insufficient resources to do so. Grounding is a simple, inexpensive means by which most of us can combat these destructive forces. The negative electrons absorbed from the earth quenches the free radicals, supports the immune system, and puts out the fire.
Grounding Improves Sleep, Pain Management, and Stress
Grounding appears to improve sleep, help manage pain, and normalizes cortisol (a stress hormone) to reduce the stress response.
Grounding Improves Inflammation and Immunity
New studies also show that grounding positively affects the inflammatory response and the immune system, which could have far-reaching health benefits. We already know that grounding improves cortisol levels. Since a high cortisol, associated with chronic stress, leads to systemic inflammation in the body, grounding can certainly improve inflammation as it normalizes cortisol.
This is how I do it:
- 1-I step barefoot outside to my grass early in the morning
- 2-I give thanks for an amazing day
- 3-I take deep breaths stretching my arms and legs
- 4-I firmly step on the grass and imagine myself growing roots from my feet that go down to the earth, it goes really deep, through mud, sand, crystals and to a beautiful golden lagoon
- 5-I imagine my roots absorbing that golden color from the lagoon, and bring the golden color up the roots, to up my feet, to up my body. I see the light going up all the way up through my head.
- 6-I stay in that feeling for 20 minutes minimum
- 7-I set the intention for my day
You might have your own technique, but this is a holistic way to connect with our mother earth, clean and energize ourselves.
I hope this helps you in any way. You can always reach out to me with any questions.
